oh dear jesus... only jehovah's perfectly awesome and cool organisation could come up with something as brilliantly idiotic as that

ok this is one for the books, my wife's great grandmother who is a miraculous 94 year old cervical and ovarian cancer survivor and a 87 year old man from the hall were just counselled on the need for a chaperon!
it seems someone was disturbed that the two were alone in her appartment!
she is practically housebound and his visits to shoot the breeze and talk about the old times were the highlight of her week.

conscience
jehovah's witnesses avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the scriptures, and they do not follow traditions that contradict bible teachings.
emphasis is placed on personal application of bible principles and the value of a sound, bible-based conscience.matthew 15:9; 2 corinthians 1:24.

is this the biggest crock of shit on the website or what??? wow, 90% of their "rules" are inferred from strings of scriptures and DEFINITELY above and beyond what the scriptures plainly state. makes me sick

from 1879 through 1908, the magazine owned, operated, and edited by charles taze russell (not the zion's watch tower tract society) was offically named "zion's watch tower and herald of christ's presence".
with several changes caused by the move from pittsburgh to brooklyn to escape maria russell, her lawyers, and the pennsylvania courts, it was decided that the official name of the magazine be changed to "the watch tower and herald of christ's presence".
here are the official reasons for dropping the word "zion's", as stated in the december 15, 1908 issue: .
haha that's too funny... ohhhhhhh to live in 1909
.
sorry for the poor quality of the photograph, but i think this settles it once and for all!.

hahhahaha love it!
i see my jw family all the time, of course, since i am not a jw, not religious at all, i am always a little uncomfortable when my dad begins the "thank jehovah" for the food routine before we start eating.
of course, i just go along with it to make them happy and not rock the boat.. my question is, for all ex-dubs, whether you are atheist or still believe in god, does it make you uncomfortable when they "thank jehovah" for the meal (when you know what they really mean is we thank the watchtower corporation for the food before us!!
do you just bow your head and say amen, even though the prayer is directed to the wts???
depends what they say in the prayers... i wont just say "amen" to anything...

i remember often times the same book would be studied over again at the book study of the jw's and sometimes it would happen within a short period of its original consideration.
they always gave the reason that their was necessary information for the times and thats why it was being read over again, but i read something last night that really made sence as to why they schedule certain books to be studied again.
not surprisingly it has little to do with any spiritual concern but rather it is all business, all dollars and cents for this publishing giant called the watchtower society.
This is a religious publishing Co$poration and nothing more.
true as that may be, it is owned, run and operated by jehovah god so you should respect all of his decisions and even if that means he wants the inventory of the spiritual store-house cleaned out by studying a book twice in 2 years, then you'd better accept his decision. otherwise gehenna awaits, my friends

entrapment is defined as:.
to catch in or as if in a trap or to lure into danger, difficulty, or a compromising situation.. .
what does this have to do with the recent releases from the society, "what does the bible really teach" and "organized to do jehovah's will"?.
that was extremely well-written and researched.... any witness would be proud of the work you put in to this. that could totally be a number 4 talk!

my mom came home with some wonderful experiences from the annual meeting at bethel, related by bethelites in her hall.
unfortunately she couldn't remember any of them... any details on this???.

but did you notice that maybe 1% of the witnesses actually read the magazines?
it really doesn't kick in does it?
the fact that someone's eternal salvation can hinge on whether they accept the "interesting" magazines offered at their door... yet chances are, the ones offering it hadn't read them... now that's interesting!.

maybe this only happens in urban neighborhoods but when i was growing up, many dubs engaged in street work, basically offering the magazines to people on the street as they walked to a destination.. usually it was an area with a lot of foot traffic at a time when many people would travel the area.. did you or people in your congo engage in this and were there any funny stories relating to this practice?
yea when i was young we would get up at 6 and go on street corner, then go for breakfast and then to the arrangement. i liked it because i would get to go out with the older young ones in the hall and they made it fun... but god help me if i had to do it when i was older...
